Why it started:
Japan wanted to expand its power and influence over China, and control the mineral and agricultural resources that China possessed. The decision to invade China was made by the Army and Politicians involved in or scared of the Army. Politicians that disturbed the military were likely to be assassinated.
What happened?
The Nanjing Massacre started on the 13th of December 1937 and ended on the 1st of February 1938. It was six weeks of the Japanese Army slaughtering the Chinese. The Japanese did some horrific things to kill the people. They also sexually assaulted many women. By the end of the six weeks at least 300,00 people were killed and between 20,000 and 80,000 women were sexually
assaulted.
